Mr. Macharia is the Coordinator and the Head of Sports and Games Department at the University of Embu where he manages the overall sports and games and recreational program.
He is a graduate of Physical Education (Double) and currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Leisure and Recreational Management.
He boasts of a wide range of experience spanning over 10 years in diverse fields at varsity sports. He has coached many winning teams and he holds many leadership positions in the country and the region. He is a specialist coach in netball, swimming, athletics, walk race, softball, baseball, and rugby.
Kindly note that our university sporting and the recreational program is vital to the positive social, physical and educational development of student-athletes. He is of the view that sports offer opportunities to serve the university, develop goodwill, promote self-realization with mental and emotional growth and encourage the qualities of good citizenship.
Having previously worked in diverse positions that were responsible for the scheduling, organizing, planning, managing, and supervising sporting activities and related services to athletics, it makes him the best suited professional to direct and lead all coaching, and non-coaching activities of the department.
He believes in a sense of ethical and academic responsibility in sports and recreation. Through him, the department has maintained an outstanding and disciplined sporting and recreational program, conducted in a manner that sets an example for good sportsmanship. Our primary concern is the education of the student-athlete. We expect all who choose to participate in our sports programs to be responsible for student-athletes.
