The University of Embu Swimming Team continues to register impressive growth and competitive success as the institution strengthens its presence in aquatic sports both regionally and nationally.
The men’s and women’s swimming teams participated in the Embu Aquatic Gala held on Saturday, 31st January 2026 at Abigail’s Garden, Embu, where the team delivered commendable performances across several categories. The University secured multiple medals, including Gold in the Men’s Medley Relay, 25m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, and 100m Freestyle events. Additional Silver and Bronze medals in freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, and backstroke events further demonstrated the team’s growing depth and competitiveness.
UoEm swimmers also made the University proud at the national level. John Mboya and Dennis Mwaura represented the University at the Kenya Aquatics National Championship held from 13th to 15th February 2026 at the Kasarani Aquatic Arena. Both athletes qualified for the finals in the 50m Butterfly event, with Dennis Mwaura recording an improved personal best time during the competition. Their participation offered valuable exposure to high-level competition and contributed greatly to their technical and athletic development.
As the swimming programme continues to grow, the University of Embu welcomes more experienced swimmers to join the team and help strengthen the University’s competitive edge in national and regional championships. Students with swimming experience and passion for aquatic sports are encouraged to be part of the exciting journey toward excellence in university sports.
