University of Embu: Embracing Growth with New Sports Opportunities
The University of Embu is proud to announce the addition of four exciting sports to our athletics program over the past year: Woodball, Baseball 5, Softball, and Floorball. These sports provide fresh opportunities for students to engage, compete, and excel
while fostering teamwork and innovation.
- Woodball: This precision sport combines strategy and skill, with players aiming to hit a ball through gates using a mallet. In their debut at the KUSA Central League 1F in November 2024 at South Eastern Kenya University, our men’s and women’s teams both claimed bronze medals, a remarkable feat for first-time competitors.
- Baseball 5: A fast-paced urban adaptation of baseball, this five-player game requires no specialized equipment, making it accessible and engaging. Baseball 5 is quickly becoming a student favorite for its energy and inclusivity.
- Softball: A close relative of baseball, softball emphasizes strategy and precision. This addition has already begun creating a vibrant sports culture on campus, drawing in new talent and building camaraderie.
- Floorball: This high-energy indoor team sport, similar to hockey, requires agility and teamwork. At the KUSA Central League 1A in September 2024 at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, our men’s team delivered an impressive performance, winning all three of their matches, while the women’s team showed resilience with one draw in three games.
We encourage all students to explore these new sports and join our vibrant athletics program as we strive for greater achievements. Together, let’s elevate the University of Embu's sporting excellence!
