HELB Benchmarking

On Monday, July 29, 2024, a delegation from the Commission for University Education (CUE), led by Dr. David Muthuka, Deputy Commission Secretary for Research, Planning, and Innovation, visited the University of Embu (UoEm). The focus of the benchmarking exercise was on Performance Contracting. This visit highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts between CUE and UoEm. The two institutions have established a strong and mutually beneficial relationship, working together across various areas to enhance educational standards and institutional effectiveness.

CAPACITY BUILDING

A training for 106 new members of staff on ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 was conducted on Wednesday, 24th February 2021 via the University’s web conferencing platform. The training was organized by the Quality & Information Security Management Representative (QISMR) in an effort to ensure that new members of staff understand and actively participate in the implementation of ISO 9001:2015(QMS) and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (ISMS) in the University.

The areas covered were;

  1. Introduction to ISO
  2. Introduction to Quality Management
    • Introduction to ISO 9000 Standards
    • Quality Management Principles Recording of Audit Findings
  3. Introduction to Information Security & Information Security Management
    • Introduction to ISO 27000 standards
  4. Clauses within ISO 9001:2015 & ISO/IEC 27001:2013
  5. Documented Information
  6. Introduction to Auditing

It was recommended that an awareness training of staff be done annually.
