NNCI-CBO Signs Reviewed MoU with the University of Embu
A delegation of eight committee members from the Njukiri-Nthambo Community-Based Organization (NNCI-CBO) visited the University of Embu on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, for the signing of a reviewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The team, led by Vice-Chairman Mr. Josephat Kathuraku, was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, on behalf of the University Management.
Founded in 1982 and originally supported by Plan International, NNCI-CBO was formed as a grassroots initiative serving communities in the Njukiri and Nthambo areas of Embu West Sub-County, Embu County. The organization has played a key role in addressing water scarcity in the region by establishing a water intake from the Rupingazi River for domestic and agricultural use.
The reviewed MoU follows an earlier agreement signed on 28th May 2018. Over the years, the partnership has fostered significant developments in areas such as enhanced dairy farming and value addition, agricultural training, marketing of produce, student training and attachments, exchange of training materials, joint field days, extension services, tree nursery development, and other mutually beneficial initiatives.
