Message from the Head of Section

I take this opportunity to warmly welcome you to the Directorate of Practicum Placement, University of Embu. Practicum and industrial attachment are integral components of academic and professional training across various programmes at the University, providing students with valuable opportunities to apply the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired in the classroom to real-world work environments. Depending on their programmes, students undertake industrial attachment, teaching practice, field attachment, practicum and other forms of supervised workplace-based learning. These experiences enable students to gain practical exposure, understand professional responsibilities, develop problem-solving, communication, teamwork and other workplace competencies, and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, clients and other stakeholders. They also provide an opportunity for students to appreciate professional standards, workplace ethics and organizational practices relevant to their chosen fields. Recognizing the importance of experiential learning in preparing competent and employable graduates, the University of Embu places great emphasis on the effective coordination of these activities. The Directorate of Practicum Placement therefore facilitates student preparation through induction, orientation and mentorship, and coordinates placement, supervision and assessment in collaboration with academic departments and host organizations. I trust that this website will provide useful information about the Directorate of Practicum Placement, our services, procedures and activities.
