About Us

The Academics, Research and Extension (ARE) Division at the University of Embu comprises the Academic Schools and various Academic Services and Student Affairs sections and departments. The Academic Schools house several departments covering diverse thematic areas within their respective disciplines and are responsible for the delivery of academic programmes.

The University has the following Academic Schools and Institute: School of Law, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, School of Agriculture, School of Nursing, School of Business and Economics, School of Education and Social Sciences, School of Engineering, and the TVET Institute.

The Academic Services and Student Affairs sections and departments undertake various aspects of academic administration and provide essential support to teaching, learning, research and student development. These include Admissions, Examinations, Quality Assurance, Research and Extension, Postgraduate Studies, Teaching Practice and Practicum, Senate Affairs, Library Services, Timetabling, Student Affairs, Sports and Games, Technology Transfer and Career Services.

The Academics, Research and Extension Division is responsible for the management and coordination of academic activities and the implementation of academic programmes, ensuring that academic plans and activities are aligned with the University's strategic priorities. The Division also oversees education planning and policy formulation, quality assurance in undergraduate and postgraduate education, scholarship and admission policy development and implementation.

In addition, the Division promotes student welfare through the provision of quality and responsive student services. It facilitates collaborations, partnerships and institutional linkages with other universities, research institutions, industry, government agencies and other stakeholders to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, strengthen research and innovation, facilitate technology transfer and promote extension and community engagement.
