The Department of Accommodation and Housekeeping Services was established in 2013, With 3 Staff, An assistant housekeeper and two office messengers.
Since then the section has grown and has a total of 10 staff members; Head of Accommodation, 2 Housekeepers, 3 assistant housekeepers, 3 Hostel Attendant and 1 Office Assistant.
The accommodation section falls under the Division of Planning, Administration and Finance and is headed by the Head of Accommodation who, with his team of well-qualified staff undertake the operations.
The section accommodates both government-sponsored and self-sponsored students on a first come first served basis upon clearance of accommodation fees.
Currently, the University of Embu (UoEm) has 8 hostels. 5 are men hostels and 3 are ladies hostels. Namely: Taita, Menengai, Kilimambogo, Elgon, Ngong, Mt.Kenya, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Aberdares with a total bed capacity of 732.
