Head of Department Message

The University of Embu recognizes that in order to provide efficient and effective services to all stakeholders and play its role in generating, advancing and disseminating knowledge for development of humanity, transport system must be managed effectively despite the limited available resources.
The transport system has evolved over a period of time since the establishment of the University. The Department was founded in the year 2012 with a fleet of seven vehicles which were inherited from East College. Over the years, the department has grown in depth and quality from the seven vehicles and two drivers seconded from East College to twenty four vehicles. The number of drivers has also increased to eleven and one mechanic who is an automotive technician to ascertain that customers are served by mechanically sound vehicles. This is due to over expanding customer needs for transport services.
The main focus of the Department has been provision of world-class, customer-focused transport services to the University. As recently as November 2017 the University of Embu acquired a sixteen seater van to upgrade its fleet. In a quick succession, another sixteen seater van was acquired to enhance the Transport Department capacity to serve its clients better. Also to improve the provision of services and its operations further, the Transport Department occupied its new office in February 2019 at the new Administration Block. In addition, the University has organized retooling refresher courses for its staff.
As we celebrate these achievements as a department, top on our priority is to strive to provide quality and safe transport services to our customers. This we understand cannot be achieve by us alone, hence our commitment to listen to our customers to meet and exceed their expectations.
