Climate Change and Tree Planting

University of Embu has put effort to deal with climate change through tree planting which is a goal by the government to plant two million trees by 2022. The University participated in various tree planting exercises. In collaboration with Equity bank the institution managed to plant a total of 7850 (2800 on 27th November 2020 and 5050 on 26th March 2021). In addition, collaborated with Embu County government on 7th May 2021 where 5800 trees were planted to commemorate 100 years of existence of Akurinu faith and heritage. A total of 13,700 trees have been planted at River Kathita.


In addition, the University has also embarked on EDMS and Digital filing. Digital filing has a huge impact on the environment through reducing paper consumption. By reducing paper usage, the University will reduce carbon footprint.
The University will also embark in waste management through use of biogas. Biogas protects the air, water, and soil. In addition, it is a safe and responsible waste management system that has a positive impact on the environment.
