INTERNAL AUDITS FOR THE YEAR 2022

The fifth combined ISO audits for ISO 9001:2015 (QMS) and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (ISMS) were conducted on 14th and 15th June 2022. It targeted all the departments in the University. The objectives of the audits were to determine level of conformity of the implemented QMS to ISO 9001:2015 Standard and ISMS to ISO 27001:2013 Standard and to identify areas of improvement.

At the end of the audit it was concluded that, based on the samples taken during the audit that University of Embu has implemented the Quality Management System to a greater extent (90.12%) that meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 Standard, commitments in University QMS procedures and adherence to relevant legal and regulatory documents in its operations.

 Further, on ISMS it the auditors’ conclusion that University of Embu has implemented the Information Security Management System to a greater extent (88.93%) that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Standard, ISMS procedures, ISMS policies, ISMS guidelines, risk registers and relevant legal and regulatory documents applicable in the University operations.

TRAINING OF INTERNAL AUDITORS

The training of ISO Internal Auditors was conducted on Friday, 27th May 2022 at the Senate Boardroom from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The training was organized by the Quality & Information Security Management Representative (QISMR) in an effort to refresh the internal auditors so as to enhance their competency and ensure that auditing of the Quality and Information Security Management Systems is conducted objectively.

The training was undertaken as per the programme and was attended by Thirty Three (33) internal auditors.

TRAINING OF PROCESS OWNERS & ISO CHAMPIONS

The training of Process Owners and ISO Champions was conducted on Wednesday, 11th May 2022 at Charter Hall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The training was organized by the Quality & Information Security Management Representative (QISMR) in an effort to refresh process owners and ISO Champions on ISO processes and sharpen skills required in the implementation of ISO 9001:2015(QMS) and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (ISMS) in the University.

 The QISMR, Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, officially opened the training. In his opening remarks he welcomed the participants and highlighted that the training covers some of the areas of weakness identified during the surveillance audits and the 4th Internal audit and are necessary for continued improvement.
